Happy Memorial Day!

I am thankful for all the men and women who have given their lives to ensure my freedom.  Prayers going up today for all who are currently on the battlefield and the families who are left here to carry on.

Today, I want to share an idea that has been rolling around in my head for awhile.  It seems that there are not many Get Well stamps out there. Sure wish Stampin' Up would  give me some more options.  This is a little gift I put together for someone in the hospital or just home suffering from a cold or the flu.  Hope you enjoy!

Recipe:
Stamps - Thoughts and Prayers, Teen Tiny Wishes, Blessings from Heaven
Paper - Whisper White, Lovely Lilac, Groovy Guava, Pink Passion, So Saffron, Rainbow Sherbert

The tissue holder was made from some scrap fabrics I had laying around.

Today I have a card that uses the new In-Colors!  Even though some of the new colors are very similar to some of the recently retired colors, I think they will make very nice cards.  I absolutely love the Comfort Cafe Designer paper!  The layout is the sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers for this week.

Recipe:
Stamps - Wacky Wishes, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Paper - Very Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple, Midnight Muse, Comfort Cafe
Ink - Raspberry Ripple, Soft Suede

I've had such a fun week so far.  On Monday I toured the NC State Governor's Mansion and the Legislative Building with 12 other women who came to Raleigh with their husbands for the IEEE Sub-Station Committee meetings.  It has been so much fun to hear about the journeys these women have been on and to recognize the similarities of their stories to my own.  Yesterday, we had a wonderful breakfast at the Museum of History and a very interesting lecture on the life of Annie Oakley.  Who knew that the "little sharpshooter" actually made her own costumes!  Today we head over to Chapel Hill to A Southern Season for cooking school and shopping in their gift shop.  Later tonight we will all meet again at the social banquet at the Museum of History.  Fun, fun, fun!!!! That's the only way to describe this week.

So, there hasn't been much time for stamping, but I do have a couple of things to show today.  First of all, I have a criss-cross box that I made to hold the note cards that I posted yesterday.  I didn't do much in the way of embellishment and will take it up a notch on my next one.  I think this will be a good way to use up some retired papers.  You can find the tutorial for the box here Wizard's Hangout

Secondly, I have a birthday card that I made for my niece who lives in Florida.

This is the beginning of a very busy week for me.  My husband of 34 years is on the host committee for a technical conference here in Raleigh this week.  I have the privilege of serving as a hostess for the companion tours.  Today, I will be touring the Executive Mansion and the Legislative Building with 15 other ladies.  I have lived in Raleigh for 22 years and have never seen these two landmarks.  Looking forward to a fun day!

I do have one more post featuring the retired Linen Prints designer paper.  Believe it or not, I still have three full sheets of this pretty paper.  Perhaps, I should make a box for these six note cards!

It is an amazingly beautiful day here in NC today!  My husband is staking my tomato plants and putting up my deck umbrella.  By this afternoon when the temperature is a pleasant 78 degrees, I will be ready to stretch out in my lawn chair and listen to the birds chirp.

But, until then.....my endeavor to use up old designer paper continues with a few more cards using Linen Prints from 2007.

WOW!!! Believe it or not I am back to the world of blogging!  I finally finished my job and have enjoyed the last few weeks just learning how to be a stay at home wife.  My calendar has been pretty full, so this is the first opportunity I have had to post a card.

Today, I have a card using some Designer Paper from 2007 called Linen Prints.  It is a whimsical design with bright colors and really reflects my mood these days!  In an attempt to use up some of my retired papers, I found this layout on Pinterest and thought I would give it a try.
